A call about an unfounded threat at Clairemont High School on Monday forced the lockdown of its campus and that of a nearby middle school on Monday.
San Diego police coordinated with campus police to respond to the anonymous call around 11 a.m. SDPD Lt. Travis Easter said the department's response was in line with the way they would treat any threat.
"This is something that unfortunately happens around our country. And we train for it, we prepare for it and we take every threat seriously, which is why you see the reaction and the response that you saw today," Easter said.
Two students who spoke with NBC 7 said their classrooms were told to lock the doors, close the blinds, stay away from the doors and remain silent.
The threat was determined to be unfounded and the lockdown was lifted
