WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro announced Monday that a high schooler is being charged as an adult after he allegedly shot an off-duty firefighter over the weekend.

The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said in a news release that 17-year-old Marcellus Dyson, Jr. of Suitland, Md., is being charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence and aggravated assault while armed.

Court documents state that on Saturday, the victim was walking home from a party around 10:30 p.m. when a male wearing a surgical mask walked up to him at 8th and C streets NE. He pulled out a gun and demanded that the firefighter hand over his belongings, and the firefighter handed over his phone.
