DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- First responders rushed to a train crossing in Ashford after a crash Monday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly after 1:00 p.m. at the railroad crossing on Midland Street, next to Old Highway 84.

Officials on the scene say a black SUV pulled in front of the train while trying to cross the tracks and was pulled down the track several feet.

The driver was not injured in the crash, but she was taken to the hospital.

Reports from RickeyStokesNews show the driver is a student, and Superintendent Brandy White was on the scene.

There are no stop bars or lights at the train crossing, and Mayor Election Blake Rossenketter tells WDHN this is the second crash in the "past couple of years" at the crossing on Midland Street.
