A swell of support for the Grey Bruce Spiritual Care Council has led to plans to refocus and expand its role into the community.

The council’s future was in doubt when a meeting was called in June to gauge whether the community agreed with council’s intention to wind its operations down. Grey-Bruce hospitals had discontinued paying for the council’s services, which had been the foundation of the spiritual care council’s reason for being.

There had been little sign that new people with new ideas would step forward for the council, leading to a council decision to dissolve the organization if no alternative were proposed at the June 12 meeting, council chair Rev. Graham Bland.
