PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High varsity football team’s season is off to a hot start, capped off by a dominating 27-0 win over Cranston West last Friday at home.

The Patriots are now at 3-0, having beaten Rogers in a non-league game at home on Sept. 4, 27-7, and then South Kingstown on the road on Sept. 12, 12-7.

After a scoreless first quarter on Friday, Portsmouth scored touchdowns in the second and third quarters, and then racked up another 13 points in the final period.

Portsmouth, under head coach Keith MacDonald, will play its next two games at home, against Westerly on Friday, Sept. 26, and Barrington on Friday, Oct. 3. Both start at 7 p.m.
