A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the tragic death of a 17-year-old girl who was reported as a missing person. ‌

The girl was found at an address in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, at around 9am on Sunday, September 21. Despite the best efforts of medics, she sadly died at the scene. Formal identification has not yet taken place but police believe the girl is 17-year-old Catherine, who was reported missing on Saturday. Her next of kin has been informed and officers are supporting them, reports the Mirror. ‌

A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, and is currently in police custody. At this time, the girl's cause of death remains unclear and cops say they are keeping an open mind. ‌
