GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — An alleged burglar was shot and killed by a homeowner in Gwinnett County, police said Monday morning.

According to the Gwinnett County Police, the situation unfolded at a home on Redbark Court. They described the suspect entering a home before he was "immediately confronted by the residents inside."

"Officers surrounded the home with the male still inside with the victims," a police statement said. "As officers entered the residence to arrest the suspect he was shot by a homeowner."

The precise details of how the situation evolved were not available. GCPD said homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were speaking with witnesses and collecting evidence.
