ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - An 8-year-old boy died after a swing set collapsed in St. Louis County on Sunday.

According to police, Cortez Williams, Jr. was playing on a backyard swing set in the 11300 block of Larimore Road when it collapsed, trapping him beneath a crossbar. Family members were able to free him and said that he appeared to have minor injuries.

Later, Williams became unresponsive and first responders were called. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

St. Louis County Crime Against Persons detectives are investigating it as an accidental death.
