BELFIELD — Juniors and seniors at Belfield High School are fund-raising to help pay for their March trip to Washington, D.C., through the Close Up Foundation.
The Close Up Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to teaching students about government and the importance of civic participation by running trips for middle and high schoolers to cities such as Washington, Philadelphia and New York City, according to their website.
Kelli Kessel, a librarian and social studies teacher at Belfield Public Schools, founded the club at Belfield High.
“Billings County is a K-8 district near us, and they have a chapter. South Heart goes, Dickinson goes. So, it's a popular thing here,” she said on why she made her decision to found the club. “I think it's an important experience
