An off-duty New York State Police trooper has been accused of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash.

New York State Police responded to a reported hit-and-run crash near Roa Hook Road and Route 9 in the Town of Cortlandt at 4:54 p.m. Sept. 21.

According to a news release, New York State Police Trooper Jennifer Alvarez, of Troop K, was operating a 2021 Toyota SUV when she struck another vehicle stopped at a red light and left the scene.

Alvarez was reported by witnesses to have continued traveling south on Route 9, the wrong way, hitting additional cars before stopping at an Ossining residence.

No one was injured as a result of the crashes.
