UINTA MOUNTAINS, Utah (ABC4) — With the beginning of fall today, Sept. 22, the Uinta Mountains got some early-season snow to break in the last few months of the year.

"First full day of fall and the Uinta Mountains are trying to skip ahead to winter," the National Weather Service (NWS) posted on Facebook. "Rain just changed over to snow at Bald Mountain Pass on Mirror Lake Highway just after 1:20 pm this afternoon."

The snowfall comes amid thunderstorms hitting northern Utah over the last few days. For today, a weak front is moving through northern Utah this afternoon, bringing clouds, a few showers, and cooler temperatures.

This afternoon is seeing below-average temperatures for the start of fall.
