HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - A man accused of murdering a 15-year-old girl in Hattiesburg in 2024 is now facing new charges after an incident while in custody.

Javan Stovall is charged with felony aggravated assault, with a bond set at $75,000. He was originally charged with murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Another inmate, O’Brian Brown, is also charged with felony aggravated assault with the same bond. Brown was also charged with willful and malicious trespassing, trespassing upon enclosed land, probation violation, and habitual burglary before this incident.
