MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is joining a group of 17 attorneys general urging universities across the country to safeguard free speech rights on campus.

The letter follows the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. It condemns political violence of any kind and criticizes university officials who may be using the killing as justification to restrict campus speech.

“LSU has led in defending free speech. I hope all our State institutions will continue to do that. The right to free speech is above all others and we must protect it,” Murrill said.
