EASTOVER, S.C. (WIS) - A man from Georgia has been charged in connection with a dogfighting incident in Richland County from April of last year, according to SLED.

Patrick Heard, 47, was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, records show. He was charged with criminal conspiracy and two counts of ill treatment of animals.

According to the arrest warrant, Heard committed criminal conspiracy in relation to “animal fighting or baiting in a wooded area” in the Eastover area.

Law enforcement disrupted an “organized” and “high-stakes” active dogfight, the warrant states.

Over $80,000 in cash was seized, documents say.

The event took place in a “very rural area” where people had to pay an “entry fee to watch” according to the warrant.
