RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged a Georgia man with criminal conspiracy and animal abuse on Friday.
Officials said that on April 20, 2024, 47-year-old Patrick Oneal Heard, of Elberton, GA, was arrested during an active dog in Eastover, SC.
According to arrest warrants, SLED disrupted the fight and seized over $80,000 in cash. Heard was arrested on the scene. Agents separated the two dogs that had been fighting for at least 10 minutes before their arrival. One dog had numerous injuries.
Agents said that Heard was charged with criminal conspiracy and two counts of ill treatment of animals on Sept. 19, 2025. He was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County.
The case will be prosecuted by the 5th Circ
