A 32-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing a street in Redwood City early Monday morning, according to police.

The collision happened just after midnight at the intersection of Woodside Road and Veterans Boulevard, police said. The woman was rushed to a local hospital after being hit but did not survive.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver told investigators that he was heading eastbound on Woodside Road toward Highway 101 and entering the intersection on a green light when he heard a loud sound. He pulled over and realized that he had struck a pedestrian, police said.
