KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - A Kansas City, Kansas, man entered a civil agreement with the federal government Monday, agreeing to pay $200,000 to resolve allegations his pharmacy violated the civil provisions of the Controlled Substances Act.
Daniel Reif made the deal for his business, The Medicine Shoppe, a retail pharmacy store in Kansas City, Kansas.
The CSA was enacted by the U.S. Congress to close the system of distribution of controlled substances. The U.S. Department of Justice said regulations require accurate records of substances manufactured, received, sold, delivered, dispensed or otherwise disposed of by the registrant.
Violations of the record-keeping requirements result in DEA registrants -- which The Medicine Shoppe was -- receiving civil monetary penalties.
