KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - The family of Charles Adair, with the support of a well-known civil rights attorney, is pressing for transparency after he died while in custody at the Wyandotte County Jail.
The State of Kansas’ Coroner’s Report states Adair was being wheeled back to his cell, and when he was being removed from the chair, there was an altercation between Adair and officers.
The report goes on to say that an officer kneeled on Adair’s back, and he went unresponsive.
Thirty-two-year-old Richard Fatherley faces an unintentional but reckless second-degree murder charge. He is on unpaid administrative leave from his job as a detention center officer with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.
