A nursery near Wigan where a two-year-old boy was found unresponsive before he tragically died in hospital has said staff are 'devastated' by the incident.

Police and paramedics were called to the Parbold Douglas CE Academy Nursery, on Lancaster Lane in Parbold, last Friday afternoon (September 19).

It followed reports that the youngster had become unresponsive . He was rushed to hospital from the scene but later died, despite the best efforts of medical professionals.

The death is not being treated as suspicious. Specialist officers are supporting the family of the two-year-old following the tragedy.
