BROOKLYN — More than 90 seniors gathered at the Starrett City Older Adult Center on Friday for the Jewish Association Serving the Aging’s second annual Senior Olympics, competing in events like pickleball and cornhole while celebrating community and healthy aging, reports PIX News 11 .
For participants like Brenda Pierre, the event was about more than medals. “I’m sitting on the sideline, cheering them on. Of course, you know, I couldn’t get to the next level, but I’m not giving up. I’m ready for the next one,” she said. According to JASA, the games help combat isolation by fostering friendship and activity.
“I feel young,” Pierre added. “It’s just great to come here.”
