OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - With food prices spitting out grocery receipts with staggering totals, many people in the county are looking for less expensive sources of protein.

Omaha Steaks is answering that call and at the same time setting up a facility to make sure the home-grown company continues its tradition of quality, safe food.

The Omaha Steaks distribution center in Papillion has gone through updates, from becoming more efficient to even simple things like changing shipping packages and doing away with styrofoam.

Now, officials broke ground on another efficiency: a cold pasteurization facility. Currently, the company sends its product out of state for cold pasteurization.
