SCOTTDALE, Pa. —

A former day care worker in Westmoreland County is facing charges after a 4-year-old was allegedly assaulted at the day care center earlier this month, officials say.

According to the Westmoreland County district attorney's office, Scottdale police received a report from a mother who said she was made aware that her child was allegedly assaulted on Sept. 5 by a day care worker at New Hope Childcare Center and Preschool. Advertisement

The DA's office said the victim's mother learned the daycare worker was no longer employed at the center and inquired about the incident with the director of the day care.
