A judge has ordered the covering of graffiti that was painted on property in Athens downtown square.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy says the temporary restraining came on September 22, after a judge signed off on a request by District Attorney General Stephen Hatchett. Download PDF

The order allows the McMinn County Sheriff's Office to cover the profanity from the view of children and to preserve the evidence for an investigation.

The defendants have until October 14 to file a response to the order.

Authorities have not said when the incident happened.
