Heavy rain in the southeast has caused water levels to rise, resulting in flooding and landslides. In Juneau, a landslide forced the closure of the Auke Lake Trail. “The only developed property that was impacted was the improved trail around Auke Lake,” said Juneau Emergency Programs Manager Ryan O’Shaughnessy. “But it did originate higher up on the slope and went all the way down to the lake.” Fortunately, no damage or injuries have been reported, but officials urge residents to stay alert. “It only takes a couple of inches of water to sweep someone off their feet or move their vehicle.
