GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Hundreds of bacon and brew lovers helped bring home enough bacon to fund a year’s worth of books for 1,497 kids in Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties.

The 10th Annual Imagination Bacon raised nearly $45,000 for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of the Heartland United Way, selling nearly 850 tickets for the sold-out event on Aug.1.

Jim’s Championship Chili & Catering took home the golden pig, being named the Best Bacon Maker by a vote of the people.

Island Band of Brewers was named Boss Hog Brewer following the vote by event attendees.

The Talbott Brothers called it the “coolest event we’ve ever played” from the stage at the Heartland Events Center.
