OREGON CITY Ore. (KPTV) - Authorities have exhumed the remains of a woman recovered from the Willamette River nearly 80 years ago for further forensic testing, according to the Oregon State Police (OSP).

The woman - known as “Oak Grove Jane Doe” - is the state’s oldest unidentified person case, OSP says.

Partial remains of the woman were found throughout 1946.

The first set of remains were found in a burlap sack in the Willamette River in Clackamas County in April 1946. Additional remains were found throughout the year near Willamette Falls and the McLoughlin Bridge in Oregon City, and again at the original site.

In addition, clothing believed to belong to the victim was recovered from the Clackamas River.
