Beaver Area (7-1) fell from the ranks of the unbeaten in boys soccer with Thursday’s 2-1 loss to Avonworth. The Bobcats dropped three spots in the Post-Gazette’s Class 2A rankings to No. 5.

Deer Lakes (9-2) moved up one spot to No. 2 to replace Beaver (7-1). North Catholic (9-1-1) moves into the rankings at No. 3, while Avonworth moved up one spot to No. 4.

The rankings could change again this week as Deer Lakes plays host to North Catholic on Tuesday in a Section 1 showdown.

Only four teams remain unbeaten and untied. Three are in Class 1A: No. 1 Bentworth (8-0), No. 2 Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (7-0) and No. 3 Beaver County Christian (9-0). Peters Township (8-0) is the only other team without a blemish on its record.
