Gov. Josh Shapiro honored the ultimate sacrifice of three Pennsylvania first responders, presenting the 2025 Keystone First Responder Award posthumously to their families in a solemn ceremony at the Governor’s Residence on Monday.

This ceremony marked the second annual presentation of the award created by bipartisan legislation, which was signed by Shapiro last year, to recognize first responders who have died or suffered career-ending injuries in the line of duty.

A police sergeant, a patrolman, and a volunteer fire chief were remembered not only for their service but for the bravery and selflessness that defined their lives, Shapiro said during the award ceremony.
