HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Holyoke Police Department is celebrating the retirement of Lieutenant John Monaghan after over 30 years of service.
Lt. Monaghan joined the department in 1992 as a reserve officer and was hired full-time two years later. In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and was promoted again to Lieutenant in 2007.
Throughout his career with the Holyoke Police Department, Lt. Monaghan assumed numerous responsibilities, including participation in bicycle patrol, criminal investigations, and narcotics/vice units. He also served as a member of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
