Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey has signed a $234 million aid bill for Bay State hospitals and community health centers, providing a key lifeline at a time of federal uncertainty.

Around 40 hospitals statewide are expected to benefit from the funding package that state lawmakers approved and sent to the Democratic governor’s desk, according to State House News Service.

The facilities that stand to benefit include several that face severe financial difficulties and serve a large volume of patients on public insurance, the wire service reported.
