Gov. Kay Ivey has told political and business leaders that she is saddened by the state of the political climate in our country.
She spoke today to members of the Montgomery Rotary Club, which is made up of many elected and appointed state leaders.
Ivey says she was shocked at the assassination of conservative political leader Charlie Kirk. He was shot and killed on September 10 while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University.
Ivey said everyone should have the right to safely debate political issues without criminals getting a foothold to stop them.
“It’s sad to say that such a devotion to foster goodwill is becoming a rare commodity throughout our land. Messages of hate and the glorification of political violence is a product of a disturbing and growing lack of civility.
