LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - It was a surprisingly short and sweet commissioners court meeting on Monday morning since tax rates and fiscal budgets have now been approved, it’s back to the regularly scheduled programing.

Webb County Judge Tano Tijerina was able to officially name October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Although it is still September, we are just days away from wearing pink to show our support to the cause.

Commissioner Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina asked if the court building could be lit up pink every night for the month of October. Judge Tijerina said, “consider it done.”

Every year there seems to be more and more awareness around breast cancer. Women who are 40 years old should already be seen for a mammogram, but the American Cancer Society continues to plead women younger tha
