DETROIT -- The final chapter of Charlie Morton’s 18-season MLB career may have a happy ending after all.
Morton, 41, has agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Braves for the final days of the 2025 season.
The veteran right-hander was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Sunday after he was roughed up in a 10-1 loss to the Braves on Friday night at Comerica Park .
It looked like his career might end amid boos and a performance he called “heartbreaking. "
Now Morton will get a chance to finish out the season and potentially retire as a member of the Braves, the team that originally drafted him out of high school back in 2002 .
Morton made his MLB debut with Atlanta in 2008 and returned for a second stint from 2021-24, playing a key role in their 2021 World Series championship
