SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Police are investigating and school officials are voicing concerns after a student was stuck with a needle at a Vermont elementary school.

“It absolutely should not be incumbent upon a kid who’s going out to play recess to be worried about finding a needle,” South Burlington Interim School Superintendent Joe Clark said, sharing his concern and frustration after an elementary school student was stuck with a needle while at recess at the Rick Marcotte Central School. “I’ve been on the job seven days, but what I’ve learned is that it has not been necessarily uncommon for the school periodically to find discarded needles from drug users.”
