BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The United Hospital Center held its 7th annual Pro-Am golf tournament on Monday, with the proceeds benefitted the hospital's lung cancer prevention and treatment programs.

Dr. David F. Hess, the president and CEO of WVU Medicine United Hospital Center, spoke with 12 News about how the tournament directly impact's patients.

“We are here to raise funds for out lung cancer program and out lung cancer screening program so not only are these golfers and businesses giving back to the community and giving to the hospital, but they're really here saving lives," Hess said.

Lung cancer remains an issue in the U.S., with as many people dying of lung cancer as breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer combined.
