TOLEDO, Ohio — Monday marked one month for the longest labor dispute for Libbey Glass since the mid-1970s — and as workers in North Toledo hold the picket line, a local organization is showing support at the checkout line.

Libbey employees are seeing some help at the dinner table courtesy of the United Steelworkers. The Steelworkers organized a donation drive to help ease food concerns for workers as they continue to strike.

“I know that this is very helpful and it’ll take a lot of pressure off our brothers and sisters and siblings that are standing out on that line,” said Teresa Cassady, assistant to the director for District 1 USW.

The drive collected items from the community and other USW chapters all day Monday — everything from canned foods, cereal and ramen to soap, toothpaste,
