BELLEVUE, Ohio — The Huron County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Bellevue city councilman accused of burglary, stalking and strangulation.
Joseph Burkart (R), an at-large council member for the city of Bellevue, was arrested Friday, Sept. 19, after he was accused of multiple criminal charges in Bellevue.
According to the Bellevue Municipal Court, Burkhart is charged with seven charges:
Strangulation
Burglary
Tampering with evidence
Menace by stalking
Possession of drugs
Assault
Telecommunications harassment
Very few details were provided surrounding the incident that lead to Burkhart's arrest. His next court hearing is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m.
WTOL has reached out to the city of Bellevue and the city council president, but has not yet received a response.
