PIPESTEM, WV (WVNS) -- The Summers County Sheriff's Department deputies now have warrants for the arrest of a suspect involved in the vandalism of a blessing box on True Road.

On Sunday morning, Summers County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call that a local blessing box had been vandalized.

The found the box had been hit by a vehicle and the driver had left the scene.

Chief Deputy Tim Adkins said this is a serious offense.

"If you wreck a vehicle and you don't notify anybody and you just leave, you know, whether it would be with injuries to another person, or property damage, or just damage to your vehicle in general, there's a wide range of punishments depending on the severity of the offense. For this particular instance it would be a misdemeanor," said Adkins.
