SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A meeting in Tallahassee this week could lead to some shakeups when it comes to the Florida property tax.

The Florida House Property Tax Select Committee is examining how property taxes are collected and used at the local level. The committee will hear presentations on how local dollars fund essential services, including schools and rural communities.

Lawmakers, representatives and local officials are split into two different schools of thought when it comes to this possible change.
