Initial approval: Additional funding for Brooks’ Playground

Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to accept $77,000 in additional donations for the construction of Brooks’ Playground, a new inclusive playground under construction in Cleveland Park.

The city launched a capital campaign to raise private funding for the $3.9 million project. Approximately $1.3 million raised through individual donations, corporate contributions and grant funding was previously appropriated for the project.

The remaining $2.5 million for the playground includes capital improvement program funding, hospitality tax funds, accommodations tax funds, greenways and trails funds and neighborhood park programming funds.
