MINNEAPOLIS — After five years, the future of the Minneapolis third precinct , burned in the days after George Floyd's murder, is now clearer. Renderings of the potential plans were shown to a Minneapolis City Council committee Monday afternoon.
Those plans include an addition to the west side of the building, located at 3000 Minnehaha Avenue.
"In this way, the new facility will not only be optimized for our current services, but it imagines a new future," Katie Smith, Director of Elections and Voter Services for Minneapolis, said.
The city says the property will include an early vote center and a voting polling space, offices for election staff, space for election-related equipment and supplies, and space for lease to community partners.
