CASPER — Changes to the rules on graduation requirements and assessment systems now go to the governor’s desk as the Wyoming State Board of Education voted to pass its draft.

The changes to those systems have been in the works for a while now. Before Thursday’s discussion and vote, the public had the opportunity to comment on the proposed changes.

Some of the public’s comments were included in the passed drafts, though none were substantive changes. For the board to have made any substantive changes to the presented rule changes, it would have needed to send the drafts back to a public comment period.

Instead, the board members stood by what they had written, with a few minor changes to clean it up, and unanimously voted to send both Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 to the governor.
