LA MARQUE, Texas – The City of La Marque says an air quality assessment at the La Marque Police Department detected mold in an area between the building’s bathrooms, prompting a temporary closure of the police lobby and a relocation of staff.

“As a precautionary safety measure, we are temporarily reallocating staff to separate buildings, and the police department lobby is currently closed to the public until further notice,” Chief Randall Aragon said in a statement.

City officials said health and safety of staff and the community “are our highest priorities” as they work to address the issue. No reopening timeline was immediately available.
