ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A family of three has been displaced after an overnight fire destroyed their home in Paulding County.

The fire happened at 34 Mill Creek Road in Hiram just before midnight Sunday.

According to officials, the home was engulfed with flames by the time firefighters arrived. The family, which consisted of a father, mother and their adult son, was out of the house when crews arrived.

Neighbors said the flames were intense, and the fire spread quickly.

“We heard a big boom, and when I came out of my little apartment back here, I looked and there were flames going about 30 feet in the air,” Jerry West said.
