BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Department of Human Services, as well as the Public Health Department, are looking to provide home-visiting services for first-time parents who need help raising a child, according to the county’s board of supervisors agenda.

A proposed agreement between DHS and Community Action Partnership of Kern, if approved, would award CAPK $4,943,041.

CAPK would provide Home Visiting Initiative Program services to families receiving benefits from CalWORKs, according to the department. CalWORKs is a state welfare program that provides services and financial support for eligible families in need.
