WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — The Williston Fire Department is adjusting some of its procedures in order to maintain efficiency in their response to the most critical calls.

Starting October 1, firefighters will no longer be responding to minor traffic accidents on streets and highways. The WFD says that they used to respond due to limited information being available regarding the incident, but improved call screening measures allow them to see if they are needed at the site of an accident.

These "Property Accidents" will now only receive a police response.

The WFD will, however, continue to respond to reports of injuries or spills on the road, as well as to property accidents when requested by law enforcement.
