WAIKAPU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On the foothills of Mauna Kahalewai in Central Maui sits 60-acres of farmland.

“The Maui Tropical Plantation is like a throwback to the plantation era. So, we have sugarcane, pineapple, bananas, macadamia nuts, mangoes, everything that used to grow here commercially,” said Maui Tropical Plantation property manager Duane Ting.

Visitors can learn about the island’s plantation era by hoping on board a Tropical Express Tour around the special farm in Waikapu.

It is forty minutes of a closer look into Hawaii’s famous fruits, flowers, plants, even livestock.

“We got everything from feeding the ducks, to the ziplines, to the tram,” Ting said. “Over a million people have learned how to husk a coconut on the tram ride alone.”
