COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WTVM /Gray News) – Authorities in Georgia said a suspected gunman is dead after a shootout took place at an Amazon warehouse Monday morning.
According to the Columbus Police Department, officers responded to a call for an “active shooter” at a newly-opened Amazon delivery station in the 5800 block of Osceola Court before 5 a.m.
A police spokesman said the suspect was identified as 22-year-old Mylen Belyue.
Officials said Belyue was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:45 a.m.
In a press release, the Columbus Police Department said the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the officers confronted him.
The spokesperson said no other injuries had been reported.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
