9:30 P.M. UPDATE: The Penn Yan Police department shared that the grandmother has also passed away at Upstate Medical Center. The victims have been identified as 12-year-old Ethan Parker, and 78-year-old Patricia Stenz.

Police say Ethan attended Penn Yan Middle School; the district has counselors available for students and staff who need it.

PENN YAN, NY (WENY) -- A house fire in Penn Yan on Friday has claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy.

According to the Penn Yan Police Department, a 911 call came in just after 7:30 A.M. on September 19 for a house fire at a home on Cornwell Street. Police say a 12-year-old boy inside the home made the call.
