Detroit Lions kicker Jake Bates was only a few feet from history on Monday, Sept. 22, against the Baltimore Ravens .

With just 2 seconds left in the first half of their "Monday Night Football" game, Dan Campbell decided to give it a shot from 67 yards, which would've beat the record held by former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, ironically, set against the Lions in September 2021.

Right off Bates' foot, the kick looked good and like it had a chance, but it ended up missing just left, even though it had the leg.

The kick would've given the Lions a three-point lead, but instead they entered the half tied with the Ravens, 14-14.

Fans on social media couldn't believe that the Lions actually tried it, and even more so that the kick from Bates almost went in. Looking for a free mini puzzle
